Bell to visit local hospital

12.00.00am GMT Mon 24th Feb 2003

The Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Woodspring Constituency will be visiting Weston General Hospital on Wednesday (26th February) to discuss the continuing problems and challenges facing the NHS.

During his visit Mr Bell will tour the hospital, meet with staff and patients and discuss local concerns with the Chairman of the Weston Area NHS Trust, John Post.

Mike Bell commented: "I am delighted to get the opportunity to visit Weston Hospital to learn at first hand about the problems health staff encounter meeting the needs of North Somerset residents.

"The NHS has had a lot of extra investment in recent years and local residents want to be sure that this is translating into real improvements in service.

"It is still true to say that too many people wait too long for NHS treatment. The Labour Government has promised to put our hospitals first and I look forward to finding out whether North Somerset's NHS is really feeling the benefit of the investment."
